Migration
Every year, millions of people undertakes the difficult travel
towards a new life escaping poverty, violence and violation of
rights, or simply in search of a better standard of living. It
is a huge wave of human beings that involves regular migrants,
illegal border-crossers, refugees and victims of human trafficking.
Their experience normally inplies new and dramatic abuses, deprivation
and ill-treatment when they reach their destinations. This is
a new and still unexplored frontier for humanitarian aid, which
has unprecedented legal, social, cultural and political implications
and requires specific knowledge and skills. The course is addressed
to those who want to work in preparedness and guidance for migrants,
reception facilities, legal services, fight against human trafficking,
repression of slavery, and protection of the most vulnerables
in the migrant population.
