Matteo Pugliese holds a Law Degree from the University of Genova and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies and International Security from the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. He also graduated from the Italian Naval Staff College in the General Staff Officers’ Course.
Gian Pietro Fontana-Rava is a Senior Advisor of the ISPI Europe Program. He was Head of the European Commission Representation in Milan from 1994 to 2001. He also worked in the Commission in Bruxelles as Head of Unit “Information Campaign, Exhibitions and Sport” (1988-1994) and, previously, in other positions in the “Internal Market”, “Aid to Development”, “Information and Culture" Units. He joined the staff in several Commissioners’ Cabinets (Martino, Malfatti, Scarascia Mugnoza).
Admiral Di Paola was appointed Defence Minister in Monti Cabinet (November 2011 – April 2013). Previously, he served as Chairman of the NATO Military Committee (June 2008- November 2011), the highest military position in the organization together with the Supreme Allied Commander. He was the second Italian to have this role after Guido Venturoni.
From 2004 to 2008 he was Chief of Defense Staff of Italy.
