Camillo Casola

Associate Research Fellow Africa

Camillo Casola

Camillo Casola is an associate research fellow at ISPI Africa programme.

His research interests are mainly focused on West Africa and Sahel. He earned a PhD in International Studies (African history and institutions) at the University of Naples “L’Orientale”, Italy, with a dissertation on the Malian crisis and the French intervention, discussing the agency of international and local actors involved in the conflict. During his doctoral studies, he conducted field research work in Mali and France. He was a visiting PhD student at the Centre Émile Durkheim (CED), Sciences Po Bordeaux.

Camillo has been a Blue Book trainee at the DG ECHO (European Commission Humanitarian Aid Office) in Brussels, working at the North, West and Central Africa unit.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences and International Relations and a Master’s degree in Relations and Institutions of Africa.
