Matthew Wilson

Senior Associate Research Fellow Transatlantic Relations

Matthew Wilson

Matthew Wilson is Associate Professor of Political Science and Senior Fellow in the John Goodwin Tower Center for Political Studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He also serves as Director of SMU’s Center for Faith and Learning, as well as Lead Curriculum Advisor for the George W. Bush Presidential Center’s Liberty and Leadership Program. He holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from Duke University, as well as a B.A. in History and Political Science from Louisiana State University.

Matthew is the author, co-author, or editor of three books — most recently Politics and Religion in the United States (Routledge, 2013)— and more than four dozen articles, book chapters, and essays, including multiple pieces in the American Journal of Political Science and the Journal of Politics. He frequently lectures, both in the United States and around the world, on American elections and public opinion and on the role of religion in global politics. He provides political commentary for a variety of international media outlets, including the BBC World Service, France 24, and the New York Times.
