Initially presented by the Kremlin as a quick “special operation”, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine soon showed its real nature: a bloody and complex conflict with far-reaching consequences well beyond Russia and Ukraine.
What’s the situation on the ground after the launch of Ukraine's counteroffensive and Russia's partial mobilization? How dangerous is the nuclear threat? Is the Western response to the Russian aggression effective? What are the political and economic consequences for Russia and the EU? What are the implications for the environment – a crucial but often-neglected issue? This series of two international events aims to answer these questions by engaging some of the most qualified post-Soviet and international studies experts.
This is the first event of the series "Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine: From Blitzkrieg to Attrition Warfare?", and it will be streamed live on ISPI's website, Facebook page and YouTube channel on Tuesday 4 October, 4:00-5:00 PM CEST (English only).
The second event of the series, "The environmental and energy implications of the war against Ukraine", will be streamed on Tuesday 11 October, 4:00-5:00 PM CEST.
ISPI has always been careful to ensure an inclusive working environment and to be attentive to gender diversity and to the plurality of voices represented in its initiatives. When this is not reflected in one of our publications or events, it is due to the unavailability of the consulted experts to participate or to challenges in identifying specific profiles in our network.
