China Watcher 2019 - The race for technological leadership, between cooperation and competition

9th Maria Weber Annual Conference

In part thanks to the “Made in China 2025” programme, China has sped up the race for the achievement of technological leadership. The strong response from the Trump administration did not take long, however, as demonstrated by recent economic tensions. What direction will the international system take, in light of the ever growing and fierce competition in the hi-tech industry? What will the global economy look like in a possible new era of Fintech, shaped by the Chinese model? And, finally, how will Europe fit in the struggle between China and the United States?

The conference is part of the China Programme, promoted by ISPI and Pirelli, and of Focus Cina, a project by ISPI and Italy China Foundation about business opportunities in the country.

Programme

On the occasion of the event, the ISPI Report "China’s Race to Global Technology Leadership" by Alessia Amighini will be published, available online on the ISPI website.
