CORPORATE PROGRAMME

The Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) was founded by Alberto Pirelli and other heads of industry in 1934, and has since studied the dynamics of international affairs with a view to meeting the needs of manufacturers and other producers – including the group’s own members, for whom it organizes special initiatives. The Institute’s Centre for Business Scenarios (Osservatorio Geoeconomia) is a joint initiative with Intesa Sanpaolo and in collaboration with Sace; it coordinates initiatives to encourage the international expansion of Italian industry by means of projects involving institutions, companies and industry associations. The aim is to combine macroeconomic analysis with a strategic understanding of politics, and current commentary with long-term prognostication. Business interests are likewise a primary concern of all ISPI’s other permanent analytical Centres and Programmes, whether categorized by region (Asia, the Mediterranean, Africa south of the Sahara, Russia, the Americas) or by subject (Global Economic Governance, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Global Cities and Energy).

analyses and comments

“ISPI Watch” offers a collection of studies put out by the Centre for Business Scenarios, which publishes periodic updates on Africa and OBOR, and also a weekly "Global Watch" regarding the global economy with the aim of highlighting emerging trends and sectors of interest for Italian businesses. The impact of global trends on companies’ business is taken into account in all studies conducted by ISPI Centres: reports, fact files and long reads, concentrating primarily on countries and topics of strategic interest to Italy.

Closed-door Meetings

The Lunch Talks, which ISPI organizes for its members, provide exclusive opportunities for discussion with government ministers, civil servants and other influential individuals from Italy and elsewhere. The Institute also offers one-hour Breakfast Briefings and other occasional briefings with its own analysts, designed to provide further insight and commentary on topics of current international importance. The purpose of these initiatives is to help business leaders gain insight into emerging trends and identify opportunities and structural risk factors.

FORMAZIONE AD HOC

Within ISPI's orientation activities about geopolitical and geoeconomic scenarios, ISPI School - which has contributed to the education of the Italian young and ruling class for over 70 years - has recently launched new Executive Education courses.

Scenario Conferences

Early each year ISPI, together with Assolombarda, Sace and other partners, holds a conference devoted to wide-ranging consideration of medium-term international risks and opportunities. Other conferences and lectures are organized periodically around particular countries and topics of strategic interest (on China, India or Cybersecurity, for instance): these are designed specifically for businesses, institutions, experts and journalists. ISPI also conducts business forums and other bilateral initiatives to promote political and cultural dialogue and economic cooperation between Italy and various other countries. In addition, it has organized the Rome Mediterranean Dialogues, or MED conference, since 2015.
