Giuseppe Famà joined Crisis Group in March 2018. As Head of EU Affairs, Giuseppe Famà follows European Union policies and developments and coordinates relationships with its institutions, designing and implementing targeted advocacy strategies on conflicts covered by Crisis Group. He also undertakes research and analysis of EU foreign and security policy developments, and oversees the delivery of projects in the same areas.
Emmanuel Dreyfus is a Russia Research Fellow at the French Military School Strategic Research Institute (IRSEM).
Admiral Di Paola was appointed Defence Minister in Monti Cabinet (November 2011 – April 2013). Previously, he served as Chairman of the NATO Military Committee (June 2008- November 2011), the highest military position in the organization together with the Supreme Allied Commander. He was the second Italian to have this role after Guido Venturoni.
From 2004 to 2008 he was Chief of Defense Staff of Italy.
Andrea Carati is an Associate Research Fellow for the Transatlantic Relations Programme at ISPI.
He has a Post-Ph.D. Research Fellowship at the Department of International Studies of the University of Milan. He completed his Ph.D. in Political Studies at the Graduate School of Social and Political Sciences (University of Milan). Since 2009, he has been the scientific coordinator for the Italian Foreign Policy Yearbook (edited by ISPI and IAI). Carati also published several books and articles on NATO’s recent evolution, military interventions in the Balkans and in Afghanistan.
Federico Borsari is Research Assistant for the MENA Centre at ISPI and Project Assistant for the MED Dialogues Conference. He was awarded his Bachelor in History at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. He also holds a Master in International Relations from the University of Bologna and has recently completed a Master in Middle Eastern Studies at the Postgraduate School of Economics and International Relations (ASERI) of Milan.
Dr. Pavel K. Baev is a Research Professor at the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo (PRIO). He is also a Senior Non-Resident Fellow at the Brookings Institution (Washington DC) and a Senior Research Associate at the Institut Francias des Relations Internationales (IFRI, Paris).
Eleonora Ardemagni is an ISPI Associate Research Fellow. Her research analysis focuses on political and security issues in Yemen and the Gulf monarchies, and on Arab military forces.
