Arturo Varvelli is Senior Research Fellow at ISPI and Co-Head of ISPI's Middle East and North Africa Centre, in charge of North Africa Studies. He also works as a scholar on topics such as Italian-Libyan relations, Libyan domestic and foreign politics, Italian foreign policy in the Middle East and Mediterranean region, Jihadist groups in North Africa, having published both books and articles on these subjects.
Stefano Maria Torelli is Associate Research Fellow at ISPI. His research topics include International Relations of the Middle East and North Africa, Jihadist movements and the Kurdish question. He teaches History and Institutions of the Middle East at the University IULM in Milan and is the coordinator of the summer school on the International relations of the Middle East at ISPI. Since 2013, he has been the Scientific coordinator of the "Atlante Geopolitico Treccani".
Fernando Reinares, Senior Associate Research Fellow at ISPI Radicalization and International Terrorism Centre, is director of the Program on Global Terrorism at Elcano Royal Institute and Professor of Political Science and Security Studies at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, both in Madrid, as well as Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
Matteo Pugliese holds a Law Degree from the University of Genova and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies and International Security from the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. He also graduated from the Italian Naval Staff College in the General Staff Officers’ Course.
Andrea Plebani is Research Fellow at the Catholic University of Milan, Lecturer of the Master in Middle Eastern Studies at ASERI and Associate Research Fellow at ISPI. He is a member of the Commission convened by the Italian Government to assess the threat stemming from radicalization and jihadist extremism in Italy. Before, he cooperated with the Oasis Foundation, the Insubria Centre on International Security (ICIS) and the Landau Network - Centro Volta (LNCV).
Valerio Mazzoni è un analista del Caffè Geopolitico e di Oltrefrontiera News, dove si occupa soprattutto di terrorismo jihadista. Collabora con lo European Eye on Radicalization, con particolare attenzione a radicalizzazione online e monitoraggio dei canali jihadisti su Telegram. Francesco Marone is a Research Fellow at the ISPI Center on Radicalization and International Terrorism. He holds a PhD in Political Science and is currently an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Pavia. He is also an Associate Fellow at the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism – The Hague (ICCT). He held research fellowships and visiting positions in the UK, Israel, Croatia and the Netherlands.
Andrea Manciulli is Senior Associate Research Fellow at ISPI. He is Head of Italy’s Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA, 2014-2018) and since November 2017 he is President of the NATO PA-GSM (Mediterranean and Middle East Special Group). From 2015 to 2017 he was Rapporteur of NATO PA-GSM in charge of the reports on: "Daesh: the challenge to regional and international security", "The expansion of Daesh to Libya and the Western Mediterranean" and "ISIL/DAESH and al-Qaeda threat to Europe".
Shiraz Maher is Senior Associate Research Fellow at ISPI and Director of the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation (ICSR) and a member of the War Studies Department at King’s College London.
