Brendan Vickers is Senior Associate Research Fellow at ISPI for the Africa Programme. He holds a PhD in Politics from the University of London. He currently works as Economic Adviser in the Trade, Oceans and Natural Resources Directorate at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London.
Laureato in Filosofia. Inizia la carriera giornalistica al quotidiano La Notte, per passare poi a Il Giornale, diretto da Indro Montanelli. In RAI ha lavorato alla redazione economica del TG1. E’ stato conduttore dell’edizione ore 13.30 e inviato negli Stati Uniti. Ha lavorato con Enzo Biagi alla trasmissione Il Fatto, di cui è stato anche curatore. Nel 1997 diventa per la prima volta corrispondente da Londra. Dal 2006 al 2014 è a Berlino, come responsabile dell’ufficio RAI per la Germania. Nel 2014 torna a Londra come responsabile dell’ufficio RAI per il Regno Unito.
Arturo Varvelli is the Head of the Rome Office and Senior Policy Fellow for the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), and a Senior Associate Fellow at ISPI. He also works as a scholar on topics such as Italian-Libyan relations, Libyan domestic and foreign politics, Italian foreign policy in the Middle East and Mediterranean region, Jihadist groups in North Africa, having published both books and articles on these subjects.
Nils Vanstappen is doctoral researcher at the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies. The international law research he conducts in his PhD concerns the legitimacy of polar governance institutions. In addition, Nils currently works at the Strategic Goods Control Unit of the Flanders Department of Foreign Affairs as a legal adviser.
Dr. Máximo Torero Cullen is the Chief Economist of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). He joined the Organization in January 2019 as Assistant Director-General for the Economic and Social Development Department. Prior to joining FAO, he was the World Bank Group Executive Director for Argentina, Bolivia, Chile Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay since November 2016 and before the Bank Dr. Torero led the Division of the Markets, Trade, and Institutions at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).
Stefano Maria Torelli is Associate Research Fellow at ISPI. His research topics include International Relations of the Middle East and North Africa, Jihadist movements and the Kurdish question. He teaches History and Institutions of the Middle East at the University IULM in Milan and is the coordinator of the summer school on the International relations of the Middle East at ISPI. Since 2013, he has been the Scientific coordinator of the "Atlante Geopolitico Treccani".
