Marco Simoni

political economist with experience in government and academia. Between 2014 and 2018 he was the main economic advisor on international economic affairs to Prime Ministers of Italy, Matteo Renzi and Paolo Gentiloni. In his capacity he attended over 120 international bilateral meetings with head of governments or CEOs of multinational companies; he managed national and international policy and legislative dossiers on behalf of the Prime Minster; coordinated relevant ministries and public agencies on different policies.

Monika Sie Dhian Ho

Monika Sie Dhian Ho is General Director of the Clingendael Institute. She also lectures at the Netherlands School of Public Administration in The Hague and is Vice Chair of the European Integration Committee of the Netherlands Advisory Council on International Affairs (AIV). Ms Sie Dhian Ho studied and lectured political science at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and was lecturer in International Relations and International Political Economy at Leiden University.

Giulia Sciorati

Giulia Sciorati is Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Chinese Studies at the University of Trento, working on a project investigating China’s relations with Central Asia. She also serves as Associate Research Fellow at ISPI Asia Centre, for the China Programme supported by Pirelli.

She earned a PhD in International Studies from the School of International Studies of the University of Trento in 2020. During her doctoral studies, she was a visiting researcher at the University of Nottingham and the European Institute for Asian Studies in Brussels.

Francesco Salesio Schiavi is Research Assistant for the MENA Centre at ISPI. He holds a Bachelor's in History and a Master's in History and Oriental Studies from the University of Bologna. He has successfully concluded the TOMidEast Summer School at the University of Turin, andhasrecently completed a Master in Middle Eastern Studies (MIMES) at the Postgraduate School of Economics and International Relations (ASERI), Milan.

Francesco Sassi

Francesco Sassi is a PhD candidate at the University of Pisa. His academic activities are focused on the cooperation and competition dynamics in energy security between the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation. Francesco’s research interests are focused on the use of National Oil Companies as foreign policy tools and energy security issues in Eurasia.
