Destinazione Europa.

Thinking about China's "One Belt One Road" Initiative: European and Italian Perspectives

The One Belt One Road (OBOR) Initiative reflects China’s growing need for deeper engagement with the regions to its west and south – through intensified trade, investment, telecommunication, and infrastructure – as well as a grander vision for Chinese foreign policy. Encompassing over 60 countries, in an area covering mainly Asia and Europe, but also Oceania and East Africa, OBOR faces immense challenges, not only from a political and operational perspective, but also from a financial standpoint.

Asia’s New Regionalism(s): The Good, the Bad and the Future. A View from Japan and ASEAN Countries

In recent years, regional integration and cooperation in Asia have gained new momentum, driven by regional organizations (ASEAN) and by the creation of mega Free Trade Areas. All this in the context of a rising India in the international trade and China’s ascent as a global leader with its own regional agenda. While the EU is going through a severe identity crisis, Asia’s new outburst of regionalism attracts much attention. Can the EU and ASEAN projects be compared? Which lessons can be learnt from the EU integration? What is the impact of Asia’s new regionalism for Japan?

L'incontro, organizzato da ISPI con Assolombarda, Fondazione Corriere della Sera, Intesa Sanpaolo e SACE, si è tenuto presso il Centro Congressi di Fondazione Cariplo (Via Romagnosi, 8 - Milano).
