In recent years, the topic of rebel governance has received increased attention in academic research and beyond. Notably, there has been a greater focus on Islamist rebel governance—i.e. on cases where militant Islamist groups come to control swaths of territory, in contexts of war and/or insurgency.

Siria: le ambiguità dietro la battaglia di Idlib

La tragedia che potrebbe consumarsi a Idlib nei prossimi giorni è il prodotto delle più profonde ambiguità che si sono trascinate in questa interminabile fase finale della guerra civile siriana. Dall’inizio del 2017 a oggi la piattaforma di Astana, fondata dai tre principali protagonisti esterni del conflitto Russia, Turchia e Iran, ha infatti creato una cornice per una gestione condivisa delle negoziazioni e delle operazioni sul campo basata su tre punti.
