Ambassador Carlo Marsili is ISPI Senior Scientific Advisor. He graduated in Political Sciences at the University of Padua and then took part in the military service in the Air Force section and thus enthered the Diplomatic Career in 1970.
During his diplomatic carreer, Marsili was First Vice Consul in Munich (1973-1975), First Secretary in Bangkok (1975-1978), Political Counsellor in Ankara (1979-1981), Consul General for Scotland and Northern Ireland in Edinburgh (1984-1988), Deputy Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister (1988-1993) and Deputy Chief of Mission in Germany (1993-1998).
He then become Ambassador to Indonesia in 1998. Later he came back to Rome as Director General for Italians Abroad and Migration Policy, and Director General for Personnel. From 2004 to 2010 he was Ambassador to Turkey.
