Francesca Frassineti is ISPI Associate Research Fellow and Ph.D. Candidate in Global and International Studies at the University of Bologna with a project on South Korea’s middle power diplomacy.
She received her BA and MA Degrees in International Relations and Diplomatic Affairs at the University of Bologna. In her Master’s dissertation, she focused on the role of constructive engagement in the Sino-Taiwanese and inter-Korean détente processes examining the pacifying effects of economic interdependence on conflicting dyads.
She contributes to ISPI publications regarding the Asia-Pacific region and to ISPI-CeSIF “Focus Cina” which is a project aimed to investigate business opportunities for Italian companies in Chinese provinces.
Before joining ISPI, she worked as a Research Analyst at the European Institute for Asian Studies (EIAS) in Brussels.
Her research interests cover geopolitical and security issues in Northeast Asia, with a focus on the Korean Peninsula.
