Silvia is an Associate Research Fellow at ISPI’s Middle East and North Africa Center. Her research interests are focused on militant Islamism broadly speaking, as well as non-state actors in the MENA region, especially in Syria. She is currently a PhD candidate in Transnational Governance at Scuola Normale Superiore and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, and a member of the COSMOS Center for Social Movement Studies, based at Scuola Normale Superiore. Her doctoral research seeks to understand the political behavior of militant Islamist groups in Syria. She is currently a visiting PhD researcher at Marmara Üniversitesi in Istanbul and will be a visiting scholar at Sciences Po Paris in 2022. Silvia holds a Master’s Degree in Foreign Languages applied to International Relations from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Milan. Her research articles have been featured in Perspectives on Terrorism and La Comunità Internazionale.
