Over the course of the last decade, the Arab monarchies of the Gulf stood out in the Middle East as fundamental political actors. How will the regional balance of power be affected by these countries' political and economic leverage? In the light of the changing dynamics in the Gulf, how will the international trade with the GCC evolve in the upcoming future, and how will the international financial institutions react accordingly? Moreover, the conference will focus on the business opportunities in the GCC for Italian firms and companies.

European Union support for democratic reforms has become of crucial importance, as well as EU economic aid and cooperation. In strengthening its Middle East policy, the EU focused on those countries - Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia – which are already at the forefront of bilateral cooperation with Brussels and, at the same time, beneficiaries of the Deauville Partnership, aimed at sustaining Arab transitions.
