Can Kasapoğlu

Asst. Prof. Dr. Can Kasapoglu is a War Studies and Security Studies scholar and military analyst. Dr. Kasapoglu gained his Ph.D. degree from the Turkish War College-Strategic Researches Institute in 2011 by successfully defending his dissertation on Assessing Conventional Forces in Low Intensity Conflicts, and his M.Sc. degree from the Turkish Military Academy-Defense Sciences Institute in 2008 with his thesis on Turkish armed resistance and special forces operations in Cyprus before 1974. In 2015 – 2016, Dr. Kasapoglu pursued his academic studies in the NATO Defense College, Rome.

John Hemmings

John Hemmings is director of the Asia Studies Centre at The Henry Jackson Society, a transatlantic think tank based in London. Prior to his graduate work, Hemmings was a research assistant at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in Whitehall from 2007 to 2011. During that time, he worked on northeast Asia security issues, including the U.S.-Japan alliance, regional security, and North Korea. In 2012, Dr Hemmings carried out a research project in Kabul and Parwan Province on South Korea’s contributions to security in Afghanistan.

Mary Fitzgerald

Mary Fitzgerald is a researcher and consultant specialising in the Euro-Mediterranean region with a particular focus on Libya. She has reported on and researched Libya since February 2011 and lived there in 2014. She has conducted research on Libya for the International Crisis Group, European Council on Foreign Relations, European University Institute and United States Institute of Peace among others. Before joining ISPI Filippo Fasulo served as the Director of the Italy-China Foundation's Centre on Business Research (CeSIF). In 2014, he earned a Ph.D. in Politics and Istitutions from the Catholic University of Milan with a dissertation on the concept of power in China's politics that was awarded the Cesare Bonacossa Prize by the University of Pavia. In 2012, he received a MSc in China in Comparative Perspectives at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Since 2011, he has been lecturing on China-related topics at the Catholic University of Milan.
