Researcher at the Department of Asian and North African Studies of Venice “Ca' Foscari” University, Carlo Frappi is Associate Research Fellow for the Russia, Caucasus and Central Asia Centre at ISPI. Frappi, who holds a Ph.D. in European History, is also Adjunct Professor in Regional Studies at Catholic University of Milan and, since 2013, is a Member of the Board of Directors at the "Association for the Italian Study of Central Asia and the Caucasus" (ASIAC).
Jean-Paul Fitoussi is Professor Emeritus at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), and professor at the LUISS University Guido Carli, Rome. He is also a Member of the Center for Capitalism and Society at Columbia University. Since 2013 he is Co-Chairman of the HLEG (High-Level Expert Group at the OECD) on the “Measurement of Economic Performances and Social Progress”. Fitoussi contributed to the creation and development of the EBRD.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and a Master’s Degree in European Studies from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). He also holds a Degree in Public Management from ESADE Business School, (ESADE), and has carried out a research internship at the Freie Universität Berlin (FU). He is currently the Director of the Global Cities Programme at CIDOB.
Admiral Di Paola was appointed Defence Minister in Monti Cabinet (November 2011 – April 2013). Previously, he served as Chairman of the NATO Military Committee (June 2008- November 2011), the highest military position in the organization together with the Supreme Allied Commander. He was the second Italian to have this role after Guido Venturoni.
From 2004 to 2008 he was Chief of Defense Staff of Italy.
Giuseppe Dentice (Ph.D) is an Associate Research Fellow at the Middle East and North Africa Centre at ISPI, where he is researching on geopolitical and security issues in the MENA region, and Teaching Assistant at the Catholic University in Milan.
His research interests apply also on Egypt, Israel and Gulf monarchies, and socio-political transformations in the Greater Middle East.

Lucio Demichele è Capo dell’Unità di Analisi, Programmazione, Statistica e Documentazione Storica, Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale.
Demichele ha coperto diversi incarichi all’interno del Ministero, tra gli altri, è stato Capo dell’Unità PESC/PSDC della Direzione Generale per gli Affari Politici e di Sicurezza dal 2016, e Capo Ufficio IV della Direzione Generale Affari Politici e Sicurezza tra il 2013 e il 2016.
Virginie Collombier is a Part-time Professor at the Middle East Directions Programme of the Robert Schuman Center for Advanced Studies. She has been a Research Fellow at the European University Institute of Florence, Italy (EUI) since September 2013.
