Shelly Kittleson is a journalist who started out her career in Afghanistan and has in recent years reported extensively from Syria and Iraq. She has reported from numerous front lines in both countries, mostly as correspondent for Al Monitor.

John Hemmings is director of the Asia Studies Centre at The Henry Jackson Society, a transatlantic think tank based in London. Prior to his graduate work, Hemmings was a research assistant at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in Whitehall from 2007 to 2011. During that time, he worked on northeast Asia security issues, including the U.S.-Japan alliance, regional security, and North Korea. In 2012, Dr Hemmings carried out a research project in Kabul and Parwan Province on South Korea’s contributions to security in Afghanistan.
Graduated in computer science, he’s been working since 2003 as information security and privacy consultant, focusing on risk assessment, security and compliance management using international standards. Certified CISA, CISM, ITIL and ISFS, he is a qualified ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 27001 auditor, having edited the Italian translations of the latter standard.
Coauthor of the CLUSIT handbooks on PCI-DSS and on professional certifications, is an active QSA and a regular presence into events and publications on information security.
Antonio Giustozzi is a visiting professor at the Kings College London. He holds a PhD from the LSE (International Relations) and a BA in Contemporary History from the University of Bologna. He was at the Crisis States Research Centre (LSE) until January 2011. He served with UNAMA (United Nations Assistance Mission to Afghanistan) in 2003-4. Currently also affiliated with RUSI.

Frappi, who holds a Ph.D. in European History, is also Adjunct Professor in Regional Studies at Catholic University of Milan and, since 2013, is a Member of the Board of Directors at the "Association for the Italian Study of Central Asia and the Caucasus" (ASIAC).
