Un segnale forte (il maggior aumento negli ultimi 28 anni), indizio di una Fed determinata a combattere l’inflazione (la più alta dagli anni Ottanta) e a non perdere la fiducia dei mercati. Segnali analoghi anche dalla Bank of England, che oggi ha deciso di alzare i tassi di interesse per la quinta volta consecutiva.

Secondo tutti gli istituti di ricerca il ballottaggio di domenica 19 giugno tra il candidato di sinistra Gustavo Petra e il populista di destra Rodolfo Hernandez sarà deciso per una manciata di voti, una differenza che potrebbe essere anche minore al 2% dei consensi. È un appuntamento storico per varie ragioni. È la prima volta che la sinistra può vincere in un paese che è stato da sempre governato da forze moderate e conservatrici.
