He specializes in Caucasus geopolitics, World Politics, Human Geography, Environmental Security, Energy Security and strategic affairs.
Yunnan Chen is a Senior Research Officer in the Development and Public Finance programme at the Overseas Development Institute in London. Her research interests centre around development finance, particularly in the infrastructure and energy sectors, and Chinese development finance overseas. She is a PhD Candidate at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and has conducted extensive field research on China-Africa economic engagement.

Sofia Bournou joined BusinessEurope's International Relations department in July 2011. She is responsible for EU-Russia relations and relations between the EU and neighbouring countries (Eastern Partnership, South-Mediterranean and accession countries). She is also responsible for market access policies, including international investment policy, raw materials policies and the international public procurement instrument. Her responsibilities also include export controls and sanctions regimes as well as WTO issues.
Simona Benedettini is a consultant in antitrust law and economics and on the regulation of network industries for law firms and companies operating in several economic sectors. Competition policy and regulation of electricity markets are her main fields of expertise together with competence in econometric techniques. Simona holds a PhD. in Law and Economics (University of Siena) and an MSc in Finance (University of Pisa). During her PhD. program, she has been visiting scholar at the University of Illinois – College of Law.
Erik Becker is IFC’s Senior Manager, Infrastructure and Natural Resources, for the MENA and Horn of Africa region and based in Dubai. Under his leadership, IFC has become the leading financier of private infrastructure in the MENA region outside of the GCC. He spent most of his 20-year career in infrastructure finance working mostly on the MENA region. Erik has also been based in Nairobi and Hong Kong, working across regions and infrastructure sub-sectors. Erik holds a master’s degree in Energy Systems Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin and an MBA from INSEAD.
