Chiara A. Cascino was Research Assistant at the ISPI's MENA Center. She holds a BA in Modern Languages (English, Spanish and Arabic) from the University of Palermo and a MA in Arab and Islamic Studies from the University of Naples “L’Orientale”. She is also concluding a Master’s Degree in Economics and Institutions of Islamic Countries at the School of Government of the LUISS University, Rome. Her research interests focus on the history, institutions and society of Middle East and North Africa and the trends of contemporary Islam.

Guido Alberto Casanova is a research assistant and editorial assistant at ISPI. After a degree in International and Diplomatic Sciences (SID) from the University of Trieste, he earned an Msc in Asian Politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies of London where he focused on state-society relations in China, South Korea and Japan. His research interests encompass also economic and security ties in the Pacific, particularly the relationship between trade and technology.
Silvia is an Associate Research Fellow at ISPI’s Middle East and North Africa Center. Her research interests are focused on militant Islamism broadly speaking, as well as non-state actors in the MENA region, especially in Syria. She is currently a PhD candidate in Transnational Governance at Scuola Normale Superiore and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, and a member of the COSMOS Center for Social Movement Studies, based at Scuola Normale Superiore. Her doctoral research seeks to understand the political behavior of militant Islamist groups in Syria.
Giulio Caratelli spent year 2020 in Myanmar after graduating from a Master of Science in International Relations at the Radboud University, The Netherlands. In Yangon, he first worked for the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar (EuroCham Myanmar) as Communication and Marketing Associate. At that time, he participated to interviewing chief local editors and Ambassadors. He then moved to Internews Network, INGO fostering Media Development and Freedom of Expression in developing countries. There, he performed as Communication Consultant and Project Assistant.
Sara Cantachin was a Research Trainee for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Centre. After a Bachelor in International and Diplomatic Affairs, at the University of Bologna, she obtained a MA in International Relations at the University of Rome, La Sapienza. She holds a second MA in Cultural Diplomacy obtained at the Hochschule Furtwangen University, in cooperation with the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy, in Berlin. She recently concluded ISPI’s Master in Diplomacy.
Marco Buti has been Director-General for Economic and Financial Affairs at the European Commission since December 2008, after a 6-month period as acting Director-General.

Brown brings his special expertise on Islamist movements, Egyptian politics, Palestinian politics, and Arab law and constitutionalism to Carnegie.
She is woman, mother and entrepreneur with an international background, currently Head of Communications of AFV Beltrame Group, the most important Italian player in the steel manufacturing industry.
