Giovanni Carbone (PhD, London School of Economics) is Head of the ISPI Africa Programme and Professor of Political Science at the Università degli Studi di Milano. His research focus is the comparative study of politics, geopolitics and economic development in sub-Saharan Africa, with particular regard to political institutions.

Filippo Gualtiero Blancato holds an advanced M.A. in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies from the College of Europe, an M.A. in European Studies from the University of Florence and a B.A. in International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Trieste (Gorizia campus). Prior to joining ISPI, he interned as a research trainee at the United Nations University Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS), where he produced policy-oriented research on issues of regional and global governance in the fields of trade, technology and crisis management.
Ranj Alaaldin is a nonresident fellow in the Foreign Policy program at Brookings, and was a visiting fellow at the Brookings Doha Center. He is also the director of a Carnegie Corporation project on proxy warfare in the Middle East.
