Zhao Huirong graduated from the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 2006 with a PhD degree in international politics. She joined the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 2001. Promoted to professor in 2016.

Anna Zafesova is a journalist covering post-Soviet politics and social and cultural issues, with special attention to Russia and Ukraine. She worked as a Moscow correspondent for the Italian newspaper La Stampa. Now she is a Milan-based freelance journalist, contributing to various Italian, Swiss and Russian media and think tanks
Helin Yildiz served as trainee for the MENA Centre at ISPI. She holds a Bachelor's in Political Science and a Master's in International Relations and EU Studies from the University of Bologna. During her studies she took part in exchange programs at the Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey and at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium; she was also visiting research student at the University of Central Florida (USA), where she conducted academic research for her thesis on the Kurdish-led governance in northern Syria and its geopolitical impact on the region.
Maha Yahya is director of the Malcolm H. Kerr Carnegie Middle East Center, where her work focuses broadly on political violence and identity politics, pluralism, development and social justice after the Arab uprisings, the challenges of citizenship, and the political and socio-economic implications of the migration/refugee crisis.
Antonio Villafranca is ISPI Director of Studies and Co-Head of the Europe and Global Governance Centre.
He is lecturer of International Relations at the Bocconi University (Milan), where he was also lecturer of European Economic Policies (2016-2018), and of ‘Structure of International Society’ at the IULM University. He is Non Resident Senior Fellow at the Chongyang Institute of the Renmin University (Beijing).
Valeria Tisalvi was Research Trainee for ISPI's Centre on Cybersecurity. She holds a MA in International Relations at the LUISS Guido Carli University of Rome. Her Master thesis focused on Cyber Warfare and its impact on International Relations and, thus, on the International Security. Previously, she worked as a Junior Analyst at the Military Affairs Desk of Ce.S.I. - Centro Studi Internazionali, after an internship as Research Assistant at the International Centre for Democracy and Democratization where she worked on WMD, Disarmament and Non-proliferation.
Valeria Talbot is a Senior Research Fellow and Co-Head of ISPI's Middle East and North Africa Centre, in charge of Middle East Studies. She also is a lecturer at the Master in Middle Eastern Studies in ASERI – Catholic University, and at the IULM University of Milan. She was ISPI scientific coordinator of Arab Trans, a FP7 funded research project on political and social transformations in the Arab World after the Arab uprisings in 2010-2011.
Dr. Niklas Swanström is the Executive Director of the Institute for Security and Development Policy, and one of its co-founders. He is a Fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute of the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
