Paolo Maria Leo Cesare Maggiolini is a Research Fellow and Lecturer in History of Islamic Asia at the Catholic University of Milan and Associate Research Fellow at ISPI. Chiara Lovotti is an Associate Research Fellow at the Middle East and North Africa Centre at ISPI. She previously was a Research Assistant at ISPI and a Research Assistant at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve. Chiara's research interests include socio-political transformations in the Middle East, with a focus on Iraq and Syria, relations between Russia and Middle-Eastern countries, and Russian foreign policy towards the area. Chiara is also a PhD candidate at the faculty of History at the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna.
Michael L. Giffoni (New York, 1965), da diplomatico di carriera dal 1992 al 2014 ha ricoperto numerosi e delicati incarichi nazionali ed europei. Dopo aver trascorso gli anni ’90 in Bosnia e nel resto dell’ex-Jugoslavia in guerra, è stato Capo della Task-force per i Balcani dell’Alto Rappresentante per la Politica estera Ue, Javier Solana, poi per 5 anni primo Ambasciatore d’Italia in Kosovo (2008-2013) ed infine (2013-14) Capo Ufficio per il Nord Africa e la Transizione araba al Ministero degli Affari esteri.
Giuseppe Dentice, Ph.D, is an Associate Research Fellow at the Middle East and North Africa Centre at Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI), where he is researching on geopolitical and security issues in the MENA region. His research interests apply also on Egypt, Israel and Gulf monarchies, and socio-political transformations in the Greater Middle East.
Matteo Colombo is an ISPI Associate Research Fellow in the MENA Centre. He obtained a PhD in Political Studies at the University of Milan (NASP Consortium), with a thesis on the Twitter discourse about IS in Arabic. He holds a bachelor degree in Philosophy from the Catholic University of Milan, a Master in International Relations from Oxford Brookes and a Master in Middle East Politics from SOAS, University of London. He also holds a Master Degree in journalism at IULM University in Milan.
Federico Borsari is Research Assistant for the MENA Centre at ISPI. He was awarded his Bachelor in History at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. He also holds a Master in International Relations from the University of Bologna and has recently completed a Master in Middle Eastern Studies at the Postgraduate School of Economics and International Relations (ASERI) of Milan.
Eleonora Ardemagni is an ISPI Associate Research Fellow (contributing habitually to the MENA Centre publications since 2013) and her research analysis focuses on Yemen, Gulf monarchies and Arab military forces. Teaching Assistant at the Catholic University of Milan (MSc courses “Regional Studies-Middle East” and “History of Islamic Asia”) and Gulf Analyst for the NATO Defense College Foundation.
Pejman Abdolmohammadi is Associate Research Fellow at the Italian Institute for International Political Studies. He is also Resident Visiting Research Fellow at the London School of Economics – Middle East Centre and Assistant Professor in Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Genoa. Pejman was formerly a Lecturer in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies at the American John Cabot University in Rome, Italy (2013-2016).
