Guido Alberto Casanova is a research trainee and editorial assistant at ISPI. After a degree in International and Diplomatic Sciences (SID) from the University of Trieste, he earned an Msc in Asian Politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies of London where he focused on State-society relations. His research interests encompass also economic and security ties in the Pacific, particularly the relationship between trade and technology.

Thomas Carothers is one of the most noted international experts on international democracy support, democratization, and U.S. foreign policy. He serves as vice president for studies at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where he founded and currently directs the Democracy and Rule of Law Program.
Giovanni Carbone (PhD, London School of Economics) is Head of the ISPI Africa Programme and Professor of Political Science at the Università degli Studi di Milano. His research focus is the comparative study of politics, geopolitics and economic development in sub-Saharan Africa, with particular regard to political institutions.
Andrea Carati is an Associate Research Fellow for the Transatlantic Relations Programme at ISPI.
He has a Post-Ph.D. Research Fellowship at the Department of International Studies of the University of Milan. He completed his Ph.D. in Political Studies at the Graduate School of Social and Political Sciences (University of Milan). Since 2009, he has been the scientific coordinator for the Italian Foreign Policy Yearbook (edited by ISPI and IAI). Carati also published several books and articles on NATO’s recent evolution, military interventions in the Balkans and in Afghanistan.
Paolo Calzini is a Scientific Advisor at ISPI. He works as research fellow at Bundesinstitut für Ostwissenschaftliche und Internationale Studien and has been visiting professor at the University of Milan, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, SAIS Washington, the University of Bologna and the Istituto Universitario Orientale. Calzini has been visiting lecturer at several universities and institutes, such as the NATO Defense College, the Freie Universität, Wilton Park, the Gorbachev Foundation, the Istituto Diplomatico degli Esteri and the Centro Alti Studi per la Difesa....
Martina Calleri was Research Trainee for the Centre “Europe and Global Governance” at ISPI. She obtained a master’s degree in EU Politics focused on the role of the EU as a global actor from the London School of Economics and Political Science, with a dissertation on cyber security in the EU. Previously, she earned a Bachelor degree in International and Diplomatic Sciences from the University of Trieste. Finally, she project managed the 2017 G7 Youth Summit, in Rome.
Federico Borsari is Research Assistant for the MENA Centre at ISPI. He was awarded his Bachelor in History at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. He also holds a Master in International Relations from the University of Bologna and has recently completed a Master in Middle Eastern Studies at the Postgraduate School of Economics and International Relations (ASERI) of Milan.
Sara Berloto is a Junior Research Fellow at CERGAS-SDA Bocconi School of Management and Teaching Assistant at Bocconi University. She holds a BSc in International Relations and European Institutions at the University of Milan and a MSc in Economics and Management of Government and International Organizations at Bocconi University. She previously worked as Trainee at the Political Office of the Italian Embassy in Paris and then at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva.
